The T129 ATAK is a twin engine multirole attack helicopter developed for modern battlefield operations, including close air support, armed reconnaissance, anti armor warfare, and escort missions. Designed for high maneuverability and survivability, the helicopter combines advanced avionics with precision strike capability for operations in demanding combat environments.

Developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries in cooperation with Leonardo, the T129 ATAK is based on the A129 Mangusta platform but incorporates significant Turkish designed systems and weapons integration. The helicopter entered operational service with the Turkish Land Forces and has also attracted export interest from several international operators.

Design and Combat Capabilities

The T129 ATAK is powered by two LHTEC CTS800 turboshaft engines, providing strong performance in hot and high altitude environments. The helicopter can reach speeds of approximately 281 km/h and has a combat range of around 561 km, making it suitable for extended tactical missions.

Its armament includes a 20mm three barrel rotary cannon mounted under the nose, guided anti tank missiles, unguided rockets, and air to air missiles. The aircraft supports advanced electro optical targeting systems, helmet mounted sight technology, infrared sensors, and digital mission computers that improve situational awareness during day and night operations.

The helicopter also features electronic warfare systems, radar warning receivers, missile warning systems, and countermeasure dispensers designed to enhance battlefield survivability against modern air defense threats.
