The Iranian Mohajer 6 is a medium altitude, long endurance unmanned aerial vehicle designed for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and light strike missions. Developed as part of Iran’s effort to field indigenous UAV systems, the Mohajer 6 reflects Tehran’s focus on affordable drones that can operate in contested and low intensity environments.
Produced by the Qods Aviation Industry Company, the Mohajer 6 entered service with Iranian forces in the late 2010s. It is intended to support battlefield awareness, border security, maritime patrol, and limited precision attack tasks. The drone features a conventional airframe with a rear mounted piston engine and a straight high wing optimized for endurance.
The Mohajer 6 carries an electro optical and infrared turret for day and night surveillance. It can transmit real time video to ground control stations via line of sight data links. The UAV has two underwing hardpoints, allowing it to carry Iranian made guided munitions such as Qaem precision glide bombs or Almas anti armor missiles.
With an endurance reported between 12 and 24 hours, the Mohajer 6 can loiter over target areas for extended periods. Its operational range is limited by line of sight communications, typically around 200 kilometers. The system has been displayed in Iranian exercises and has reportedly been exported to a small number of foreign users, making it a notable example of Iran’s growing UAV export portfolio.
There is no officially published unit price for the Mohajer 6. Open source defense estimates suggest a cost well below Western MALE UAVs, likely in the low single digit million dollar range depending on sensors and weapons fit.
