GÖKHAN ER Missile: Turkey’s Long Range Ramjet AAM

The GÖKHAN ER is the extended range development of Türkiye’s GÖKHAN ramjet powered beyond visual range air to air missile. Developed under the national GÖKHAN program, the weapon is intended to give Turkish combat aircraft a long range air combat capability while reducing reliance on foreign missile technology. TÜBİTAK SAGE describes GÖKHAN as a strategic air to air missile designed to engage aerial targets at long range, protect high value aircraft, and improve the survivability of strike platforms.

The missile uses ramjet propulsion, allowing sustained thrust during the engagement rather than relying only on the brief boost phase of a conventional solid rocket motor. TÜBİTAK SAGE also identifies high maneuverability and a two way data link as key features. The 2025 contract amendment is intended to increase the missile’s range and maneuverability, while a separate long range GÖKHAN development contract was signed at IDEF 2025.

Exact official performance figures for the GÖKHAN ER variant have not been publicly released.
