Patria TREMOS is a Finnish mobile mortar system designed to modernize conventional smoothbore mortars with greater mobility, faster deployment and improved first round accuracy. Introduced by Patria in 2024, TREMOS uses an integration module and hydro-pneumatic recoil system that allow the weapon to be installed on suitable 4×4, 6×6, 8×8 and light tracked vehicles. The system can use existing 120 mm or 81 mm mortar tubes, qualified ammunition and ballistic tables, reducing the need for entirely new ammunition and training arrangements.

Manufacturer

Patria, a Finnish defense company, developed TREMOS in cooperation with the Finnish Army and Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command. The Finnish Army refers to the system as the 120 KRH M3. In September 2026, Finland agreed to procure more than 100 TREMOS systems, with deliveries beginning in 2026 and continuing through 2028.

Speed and Range

TREMOS is a mortar system rather than a self-propelled vehicle, so a projectile speed is not specified by Patria as a system performance figure. Its published performance includes a maximum rate of fire of 12 to 15 rounds per minute, with the first three rounds fired within 15 seconds. Patria lists a range of more than 7 km, depending on ammunition. Time to open fire is under 60 seconds, while the system is designed for immediate displacement after firing.

Cost/Price

Patria has not publicly disclosed a standard unit price for TREMOS. Final cost is expected to depend on the mortar configuration, vehicle integration, ammunition storage, navigation equipment, battle management connectivity and customer requirements. The system is designed as a modernization solution that can use existing mortar components and ammunition.
