Powered by a Honeywell TPE331-10 turboprop engine, the MQ-9A reaches a maximum speed of about 480 km per hour, with a cruise speed near 310 km per hour. It has an operational range of roughly 1,850 km and can remain airborne for 24 to 40 hours depending on mission configuration.
The drone carries up to 1,700 kg of payload across six hardpoints. Typical armament includes AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and laser guided bombs such as the Paveway II. Advanced sensors include electro optical and infrared systems, synthetic aperture radar, and laser targeting systems. Satellite communications allow beyond line of sight control from ground stations.
