The UH 60M Black Hawk is the latest production variant of the U.S. Army’s primary utility helicopter. It is designed as a multi role utility helicopter, optimized for troop transport, air assault, medical evacuation, command and control, and resupply operations. The M variant replaces older UH 60A and L models in U.S. service.
The UH 60M is powered by two T700 GE 701D turboshaft engines, delivering higher lift and better hot and high performance. It reaches a maximum speed of around 293 km per hour and has a combat range of roughly 480 km, extendable with external fuel tanks. The helicopter can carry up to 11 fully equipped troops internally, or transport cargo externally via sling load.
A fully digital glass cockpit improves situational awareness and reduces pilot workload. Advanced navigation, GPS, and secure communications allow precise operations in all weather and at night. Survivability features include ballistic tolerant airframe design, infrared suppression, missile warning systems, and countermeasure dispensers.
