The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) is a next generation armored tactical vehicle developed to replace portions of the aging Humvee fleet in U.S. military service. The JLTV was developed under a U.S. military modernization effort aimed at improving force protection and battlefield mobility after lessons learned in Iraq and Afghanistan. Compared with the Humvee, the JLTV provides significantly higher blast resistance, modular armor protection, and advanced digital networking capability.
