The Barak MX Integrated Air Defense System represents a new-generation, modular air and missile defense solution designed to counter a wide spectrum of modern aerial threats. Developed for flexible deployment across land and naval environments, Barak MX provides layered protection against aircraft, UAVs, cruise missiles, and tactical ballistic missiles.
Barak MX is manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), one of Israel’s leading defense firms, with extensive experience in radar, missile, and command-and-control technologies. The system builds on the proven Barak missile family and is optimized for export and joint-force integration.
The system supports three interceptor variants—Barak MR, Barak LR, and Barak ER— enabling engagement ranges from approximately 35 km to 150+ km. Missiles use active radar seekers, two-way datalinks, and advanced electronic counter-countermeasures (ECCM). Barak MX can be paired with IAI’s EL/M-2084 AESA radar or integrated with third-party sensors, making it suitable for joint and coalition operations.
The open-architecture Battle Management & Control (BMC) system allows rapid threat prioritization, simultaneous multi-target engagement, and networked operations with higher-tier missile defense systems.
Barak MX is designed for protection of critical infrastructure, military bases, population centers, and maneuver forces. Its high mobility and modular launcher design allow rapid deployment and scalability, aligning with modern U.S. and allied air defense doctrines focused on distributed and layered defense.
For U.S. or allied procurement contexts, a Barak MX battery is estimated between USD 200–400 million, depending on interceptor variants, radar selection, and system integration requirements.
