The Arudhra radar is a modern long range air surveillance radar developed to strengthen airspace awareness against fast moving and low observable threats. Designed for continuous operation in contested environments, Arudhra supports early warning, air defense coordination, and national airspace monitoring missions.
Developed by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and produced by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Arudhra reflects India’s push toward indigenous, high performance sensor systems. The radar uses active electronically scanned array technology to provide faster target detection, improved tracking accuracy, and strong resistance to electronic warfare.
Arudhra is designed to detect fighter aircraft, transport planes, helicopters, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial systems. Its solid state AESA architecture allows it to track hundreds of targets at once while maintaining high update rates. The system offers 360 degree azimuth coverage and broad elevation scanning, making it suitable for both low level and high altitude threats.
