The MQ 4C Triton is the United States Navy’s primary high altitude long endurance unmanned aircraft for maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. Designed to operate over vast ocean areas, Triton provides persistent awareness across thousands of miles of open water, supporting fleet commanders with near real time data.

Developed by Northrop Grumman, the MQ 4C is based on the RQ 4 Global Hawk airframe but heavily modified for naval operations. Operationally, the MQ 4C supports anti submarine warfare, surface warfare, search and rescue, and maritime security missions. It is a key element of the US Navy’s distributed maritime operations concept, enhancing situational awareness while reducing risk to crewed aircraft.

The YFQ-48 represents the U.S. Air Force push toward autonomous combat aviation.
