US Delivers Fourth C-130 to Tunisian Air Force
The United States delivered a C-130H Hercules transport aircraft to the Tunisian Air Force in a ceremony at Sidi Ahmed Air Base in Bizerte, expanding Tunisia’s tactical airlift capability under ongoing defense cooperation. The January event marked the fourth C-130 aircraft the US government has transferred to Tunisia since 2021, part of a long-running security partnership between the two countries.
Senior US and Tunisian officials attended the handover, including US Ambassador Bill Bazzi, Tunisia’s Minister of National Defence Khaled Sehili, and military leaders from both nations. The delivery supports Tunisia’s ability to conduct transport missions, joint exercises, security operations, and rapid response tasks in the region.
Strengthening Airlift and Operational Reach
The addition of the C-130H Hercules supports ongoing efforts to expand and modernize the Tunisian Air Force’s air transport capabilities. The aircraft joins a growing fleet of C-130 variants operated by Tunisia, including legacy C-130B/H models and newer C-130J Super Hercules transports previously acquired under bilateral agreements.
Officials highlighted the role of the C-130 platform in enhancing operational flexibility. The Hercules is widely used around the world for airlift, airdrop, humanitarian assistance, and allied training missions. Tunisia’s expanded fleet increases its capacity to support domestic security tasks and multinational exercises.

The delivery continues more than four decades of defense cooperation between the United States and Tunisia, which includes training, sustainment, and equipment transfer programs. Tunisia is designated as a major non-NATO ally, a status that facilitates long-term military engagement and support between the two partners.
